Erin Gatling is a 5'5" point guard at Van Buren High School who will graduate in 2008. She has been a two year starter at point guard for VBHS in Arkansas' largest classification of schools the 7A. In 2006-2007, she led her team in points scored, steals, free throws made, and free throw percentage. Erin was also the second leading scorer for her conference averaging 16 points per game. Even though her team failed to make the state playoffs this year, Erin was named as an All-Conference and All-State member. During the year she was also named to the All-Tournament team in the Sherman, Texas holiday tournament and Player of the Week by the Fort Smith Radio group. Most recently, she was named to the AAO Top 25 team.

Also a top track and field athlete, as a sophomore, Erin set school records individually in the 400 meter run and the 800 meter run. She also anchored the 1600 meter relay team that set a new school record as well. At the Meet of Champs in 2006, she recorded the fastest time for the year in the 800 meter run, winning the event 4 seconds ahead of the next runner. The next week she competed in the Arkansas State Heptathlon, finishing as one of only two sophomores in the Top 10. During the Heptathlon, she won the 800 meters.

Not only is Erin an outstanding athlete, but also an all-around student. She is currently ranked 12th in her class of 465, is a Junior class officer, a member of Student Senate and has been elected as a Girls State Delegate for the summer of 2007.
