Kelsey Hatcher is a 5'10" combo guard at Central Arkansas Christian
who will graduate in 2008. A starter as a freshman at Pulaski Academy,
she led her team in scoring, and took them to the final four. As a sophomore
she transferred to Central Arkansas Christian to play for Coach Quattlebaum,
the state's best high school coach. The CAC Mustangs finished the season
ranked #1 overall and won the State Championship. Kelsey averaged 14.8
points per game at CAC while setting records for most three pointers
made in the season with 69 and most three pointers made in a game with
6 while shooting 43% from three point land and 85% from the free throw
line. In the state tournament she showed her ability to perform in the
clutch by making 17 of 18 free throws. She has been named All-District,
All-Area, All-Region, 1st team Future Starzz Team by Arkansas Prep Hoops,
All-State Tournament Team, Player of the Week by Channel 7, Arkansas
Democrat Gazette All-Sophomore Team, Paragould All-Tournament Team,
Player of the Game at Paragould, Top 25 Prospects in Arkansas.
As a junior, Kelsey
led CAC to a 3rd consecutive State Championship. Down by 10 points in
the 4th quarter, Kelsey was the difference in the last 3 minutes, stealing
the ball twice, scoring the go-ahead basket, hitting both ends of the
1 and 1 to put them up by 3, and then stealing the ball with 10 seconds
again and taking it to the other end for a layup to seal the game. She
was named to the All-State All Tournament Team, and was 1st Team All-State,
All-District, All-Region, All-Area, and Arkansas Prep Hoops Player of
the Week. She is the top guard prospect in Arkansas with multiple college
scholarship offers from every conference in the country.
The state's premier female
athlete, Kelsey has
already been named All-State in 4 sports: basketball, cross country,
soccer, and track. In addition, she is a State Champion in all 4 sports.
In track she won the State Championship in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meters
as a freshman while setting the AAA State record in the mile. WIth her
senior season still ahead of her in high school she has won 10 State
Championships, 4 in track, 3 in basketball, 3 in soccer, and was the
individual State Cross Country Champion. Although truly a four-sport
Division I athlete, she will play basketball only in college for Oklahoma
State University.
